First Pair of Glasses

Landon went to the eye doctor at 7:30 Thursday morning .  This is extremely early for me to get up for an appointment but the eye doctor he sees is hard to get into.  This doctor is one of the best in his field but in order to get an appointment with him it takes making an appointment months in advance.  This is the reason for the early appointment because just to get that one we had to wait five months.  I was willing to wait because he is Ronan's doctor and I like him. Plus Landon wasn't acting like anything was up with his vision.

Turns out the nearsightedness he's been threatening with a borderline diagnosis the last three years has now moved into full nearsightedness. He is getting glasses.  He doesn't have to wear them all the time just when he is doing school, watching tv or on the computer. He picked his own glasses out and they should arrive in about a week. Since the appointment was so early we stopped and got a treat for breakfast.  Landon picked a snowman doughnut and chocolate milk.

Santa visited Ronan for a third time and gave him more presents.  He got a really cute teddy bear, DVD, CD, and two books.  It would almost seem if you are a kid and have to be in the hospital the week before Christmas isn't so bad after all as long as you can get out in time to spend the actual holiday with family.  Ronan was lucky enough for this scenario.

The pediatric doctor came and greeted Isaac and I shortly after we arrived in Ronan's room this morning.  He said he wanted to tell us that Ronan has been everyone's favorite patient.  He said there were times that if a nurse or doctor was missing they'd look in Ronan's room because everyone loved coming to see Ronan.  It's nice to know people see how great a kid he is.  Ronan makes people smile where ever he goes.

The nurse gave me a tutorial on Ronan's feeding tube.  Isaac had been there when Ronan came out of surgery from getting the tube placed and therefor knew more than I did on how to use it since the doctor instructed Isaac on the spot.  The nurse showed me how to use it then watched me try.  After arranging prescriptions for Ronan's new formula we were discharged.  Ronan was thrilled to leave the hospital.

Tonight I gave him his first feeding tube feed from me.  I was nervous and Isaac walked in at just the right moment and helped me figure it out.  I'm so glad he was there as I was very unsure I was doing everything correctly plus it was helpful that he could hold Mr. Grabby's hands so he didn't pull out his tube.

The three big kids were in a Christmas program tonight.  I didn't get to to go and I was pretty sad about it but I thought it was best to keep Ronan in for a little while to let him recover.  Jadzia looked pretty in her red Christmas dress.

The below pictures are from Thursday afternoon when Xander went to visit Ronan.  The doctors use disposable stethoscopes sometimes and they let Xander play with one.  He had a good time pretending he was a doctor.

He even stood on a chair and wrapped a blanket around himself to not only look taller but also look like he had a lab coat on.  He thought it was a pretty ingenious idea.

I also have to post the most recent cute Inara photos so here they are.  She loves her "Bug".

Also here are some more with her ever growing Pony tails.

The kids have been making good use of Ronan's alphabet blocks.  Even Inara has built a tower or two.  These blocks have kept them busy for very long periods of time.  I think the building gene runs in the family as all my kids love to design and build things like their Dad.

"G" is for Gorilla.
